14th and Girard Streets Park Redevelopment

In response to the aging infrastructure and shifting needs of the community, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) began a community-driven planning and design process in spring 2007 to redevelop the park located at 14th and Girard Streets, NW. This project completely redeveloped the existing park in order to better serve the community that surrounds it.

Improved amenities include the following:

  • Seat walls
  • Landscaping
  • Game tables
  • Lighting
  • Basketball court with new rubberized play surface

New features of the park include:

  • Play fountain
  • Site fencing
  • Access to the basketball court for persons with disabilities
  • Benches
  • Two bathrooms

This project was completed in July 2009.
