Fort Circle Series

DPR has created a series of caches to bring attention to the Fort Circle Parks that it manages. It follows part of the chain of forts which guarded bridges, Capitol Hill, and naval installations from likely enemy approaches through southern Maryland. The historic features are collectively known as the Civil War Defenses of Washington, or the "Fort Circle Parks." The areas in and around many of these forts are also significant in African American history, as many freed slaves moved there before and during the Civil War.

DPR has geocaches at the following sites:

In addition to the Forts in this series, there are an additional 11 Fort Circle Parks managed by the National Parks Services. For more information, visit National Recreation Trails.
