Hobart Twins Park Renovation

Hobart Twins Park is comprised of two parks on the 700 block of Hobart Place, NW. One park is on the north side of the street, the other, directly opposite, on the south side. Built in 1969, the park has recently undergone several renovations.

  • Masonry Restoration - Historical masonry restoration work was completed in Summer 2008. New brick and mortar was carefully matched to existing brick and mortar to avoid a jarring contrast between old and new work. Historic brass plaques were also removed, restored and reinstalled. The plaques note that former First Lady of the United States, Claudia Taylor "Lady Bird" Johnson, was instrumental in helping create these two pocket parks for the community.

  • Fence Replacement - The low fence that previously enclosed the parks along the sides and back was replaced with a new eight-foot high powder-coated steel fence.
