Mitchell Park Erosion Control

Storm water runoff from the athletic field at Mitchell Park Recreation Center, 1801 23rd St., NW, drains along the steps at the southeast corner of the park and the steep slopes along S Street. This water runoff results in erosion problems and can create unsafe conditions on the steps and sidewalk during winter weather.

To address the storm water and erosion concerns, this project will add new topsoil and install other storm water management tools (berms and raingardens) to redirect runoff from the athletic field.

Schedule and Status
Construction for this project will begin in fall 2008.
