All DPR Facilities to Close on January 23 & 24, 2016

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Thursday, January 21, Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public emergency as well as a snow emergency for the District of Columbia due to the current weather forecast.

The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) responded to the snow emergency (Press Release: DPR Responds to Snow Emergency), closing all recreation/community centers, aquatic facilities and administrative offices at 12 noon on Friday, January 22, 2016.

Please note the following DPR closures for Friday, January 22; Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24, 2016:

  • All DPR recreation/community centers and aquatic facilities will be closed on Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24, 2016.
  • All DPR programs have been cancelled between Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24, 2016.
  • All sport league games have been cancelled between Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24, 2016. 
  • All permits have been cancelled for activities between Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24, 2016.
  • Select DPR facilities will serve as warming centers for District residents.
