DPR today announced that the Agency is moving its central office operations from its current site to two new locations. The main DPR central office is relocating to 1250 U Street NW, 2nd Floor beginning March 5th.

WASHINGTON, DC – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) today announced that the Agency is moving its central office operations from its current site to two new locations. The main DPR central office is relocating to 1250 U Street NW, 2nd Floor. The Agency’s program development and management functions will be relocated to the Columbia Heights Community Center at 1480 Girard Street NW. The move is scheduled to take place beginning March 3rd and be complete on March 5, 2012.
The move is aimed at providing a better working environment for DPR employees, and a place to better serve customers. The move will also bring together central office support staff in a way that will allow DPR to uphold the commitment of ensuring that all central office operations are focused on supporting programs.
The following central operations offices will be housed at 1250 U Street NW:
- Director’s Office
- Communications Office
- Permits Office
- Customer Service Office
- Operations Group (Capital Projects/Facilities, Procurement, Risk management, Information Technology)
- Partnerships & Development Office (Volunteer Program, Donations, and Grants)
- Finance Office
- Human Resources Office
- General Counsel’s Office
Program development and management functions that will be relocated to our Columbia Heights Community Center (1480 Girard Street NW) are the following:
- Aquatics Programs
- Camps and Seasonal Programs
- Cooperative Play Program
- Environmental Programs
- Teen Programs
- Senior Services
- Cultural Arts Programs
- Athletics Programs
- Diversity Initiatives
Both locations are conveniently located near stops on the Green and Yellow and lines of DC’s Metro system. Our 1250 U Street location is located directly above the U Street stop. Our program offices are located a few blocks southwest of the Columbia Heights stop.
There are also several bus routes that service the area in and around our new locations. Our 1250 U Street location is served by the 63, 64, 90, 92, 96, X3 routes. Our Columbia Heights location is accessible by the many routes that serve both 16th Street and 14th Street.
