(Washington, DC) – On Monday, February 10 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will speak at the launch of the inaugural cohort of the Youth Development Professional Certification program, a first-of-its-kind initiative from the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the George Washington University Center for Excellence in Public Leadership.
The Youth Development Professional Certification program provides full funding for 30 participants who are passionate about supporting youth in the community. This comprehensive nine-month program equips participants with the skills, knowledge, and strategies needed to effectively mentor and support youth in various educational and community settings. The program is designed to foster the personal and professional growth of adult learners working in youth development while promoting resilience and enhancing their overall well-being.
