Communal Farms
DPR Communal Farms are urban Ag sites that are organized as communal production farms, managed by DPR staff and community volunteers, with the purpose of providing various ways for community members to volunteer, participate in hands-on educational opportunities, and to receive free veggies including (4) weekly veggie giveaways from May to November.
About Programs
The DC Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to offer District residents hundreds of free programs for recreational purposes. No matter what your interests are, DPR likely has an activity, class, sports league, or social network that will allow you to connect with your neighbors and enhance your day-to-day life. And, best of all, most of DPR's great programs are free for DC residents.

On Sunday, August 13, there was an unfortunate incident at the Rumsey Aquatic Center at Eastern Market. While at no point was the safety of our guests at risk, the incident did involve an individual being asked to leave the facility due to offensive language and inappropriate behavior.
Community Compost Cooperative Network
The DC Parks and Recreation (DPR) Community Compost Cooperative Network uses new critter proof and smell proof compost bins designed by Urban Farm Plans to allow trained community members to compost food scraps with garden waste from DPR and partner DPR gardens to responsibly create high quality compost. To join each member must take an hour training and help process compost 1-hour a month.

The Movie Night program travels throughout the District hotspots during the summer months. This activity shows family oriented movies for those in the community.
